Guestbook 2003

I would like to greet all the people that participated at the August 2003 bootcamp in Mexico. I also want to say THANK YOU BARON for all the things that you have learned us. I keep your words of wisdom in my head and heart. In certain situations in my life they come up and guide me and help me to deal with that particular situation or problem.I read your book 40 Days to Personal Revolution and must say that even though I did like your first book Journey into Power very much your second book did touch me on much deeper level. It is a wonderful book and I do recomend it to everyone. May the new year be happy healthy and fullfil with inner peace and joy for everyone. Namaste Jitka

Last year, I purchased Baron's book to help me find an easy and aesthetic approach to working out. After several years of almost dailty gym regimens on elliptical machines, I was burned out and unexcited at the prospect of a lifetime of tedious machine workouts. I recalled that the only time I had felt really good about exercise was when I practiced yoga. Then, I had relied upon a tape I purchased at Yoga Zone here in NYC, when Richard Vilella and Alan Finger were running the studio. I returned to that tape, but found that it lacked the aerobic component I was used to getting with my daily gym workouts. I found my copy of Baron's book, but was unable to follow it and work out at the same time. And so I looked for his tapes. While my goal is always to lose weight -- and I've not been too successful at it, I found something even better in following Baron's workout tapes. I discovered a kind of energized calm that has now become almost addictive for me. It's only been three weeks, but I have actually gone off some medication I was on to deal with depression. I feel so much better. And while I don't know if I'll lose the weight, I now have an easy and spiritual way to deal with everyday stress. I want to thank him for that.Sincerely,Perry JanoskiNew York City

Dear Baron,I value your teaching both in your book and your DVD's/videos. I supplement your program with practice of Kundalini yoga (as taught by Yogi Bhajan). I find your approach to tuning into your own divinity similar to Kundalini. I love the well rounded opportunity for growth. Healing from the inside out was the best discovery. Thank you,Kara

As a Yoga Instructor I firmly beleive thatthe intuitive creative process is the innate driving force behind an authentic yoga practice. Baron's keen yogic sense and extraordinary expereience allows him to unlock and map this intuitive process for the beginner and advanced student alike. Hisbook is a rare gem, one to be read, utilized, and chereished for all time.

I have just visited the site for the first time... Some time ago I purchased Journey into Power, but as a beginner it seemed a daunting practice to begin through a text. I just recently ordered the video based on the teachings and look forward to beginning the practice. As a martial artist and body worker, I see the huge benefits that yoga, and especially power yoga, will offer and I can hardly wait to see my body tone up and enjoy higher kicks and better balance. Thanks for your work!Darren

It's been a month since returning form the Level 1 teacher training in Maya Tulum and I'm still integrating. My trip back to Boston was the most amazing experience ever -- truly a culmination of the awakening that occurred for me at the training. As many of you may have experienced, my connecting flight from Miami was cancelled due to the NYC blackout a couple of days earlier. Incredibly, I remained in equanimity, centered, balanced, calm and knowing. The ticketing agent offered to put me up in a nearby hotel, pay for taxis and dinner. She then booked me on a return flight for the next morning (and when I arrived the next morning, the new agent booked me on a better flight). As I turned to leave the ticket counter late that night, I ran directly into a good friend of mine who was stranded as well. We spent an enjoyable evening together. Coincidence or good luck? I think not. The interesting thing about all of this is that all around me, people were falling apart, crying, stressing, crumbling, complaining, pushing. I found out that most people had to spend the night in the terminal -- were never offered hotel or food. Why was I handed all of this comfort? The only conclusion I have been able to come to is that I was so aligned after a week with Baron and Rolf that the Universe was part of me and I part of it. I believe that this is how it can always be -- if we surrender to the process, give up the struggle, we become one with the flow. Thank you Baron and thank you Universe for this incredible week in Mexico and most perfect final exam!Susan Van Note

I see a future in teaching yoga for myself, and would consider it an honor to be taught by the person whom I have learned so much about. I will continue my personal practice and hopefully attend many workshops, boot camps and finally my BPYI teacher certification.Namaste.

What a treat to experience Baron at Jivamukti! Thanks to Sharon & David for opening up their beautiful space to their friend, Baron, and sharing him with us. Given the time limitations (3 hours), the class exceeded all our expectations. Short...but ever so sweet. The exchange of energy between Baron, his assistants and the Jivamukti community was inspiring and exhilirating. Beyond the unquestionable growth we receive everytime we "experience" Baron, there is an inordinate amount of excitement for his students as we watch him grow and evolve as a teacher. I was in Boston for only two months and only accidentally expanded my practice from the Bikram studio. I want to thank Gregor for being such a dynamic teacher and creating an atmosphere of clarity and openess. I want to thank Coeli for helping me overcome my ego with asana practice and helping me perfect my postures. I want to thank Rolf for having such a deeply meditative class (I was only able to attend one) and a book that I can sincerely relate to and have learned so incredibly much from. I am also thankful to Baron, with whom I was able to attend a class, who is so down to earth and honest with his teaching. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful journey and now I am inclined to agree when you say "My yoga is the best yoga!"I also want to thank the entire BPYI community and the aspiring teachers who assisted the class.Love to all! I am writing this letter of deep gratitude, which to me seems greatly overdue. I had just come back to Boston from a summer of recuperation. The previous year was spent abusing substances along with someone abusing me. I started class at the Cambridge studio in September of 2000.A friend of mine recommended the Baptiste yoga studio to help continue the healing process. She also sent me to her therapist (smile). The first class I ever took was with Baron, and I went alone. This was a huge obstacle in itself, for I had become a very timid person. From my first downward dog to the last Om…. I knew my friend had given me a blessing. Only one other time in my life had I felt so at peace with sitting with myself and that was on the water at 6am rowing in an eight. I had forgotten what that felt like, but after what seemed like an eternity of chaos, it was nice to come home. At the time the only teachers were Baron and Rolf. I had a perfect yin/yang of yoga with them. Like many before me and after...I spent many a class crying, of course amidst the Niagara falls type perspiration, it was not very obvious. (Smile) To make a very long story short, I just wanted to thank both Baron and Rolf. You’ve helped me make my own life a better place to live. Namaste, Erika Salminen

Dear Baron,I wish I wrote as eloquently as you practice yoga. Then, I would be able to express my gratitude for words, work, and wisdom. Less than three months, ago I was lost in the past; angry, depressed and afraid. I was searching for answers...one day I saw an advertisement for a Power Vinyasa Yoga class and decided to attend. After class I could hardly speak, with tears in my eyes I approached the instructor and asked if, she could recommend a book which would help me understand what I just experienced. I ran to Border's to purchase your book and in less than three days was recommending it to anyone who would listen. Thank you for giving, sharing, practicing and living.Namaste,Christine

Just reading Jouney into Power before I was ready to begin any yoga practice helped me to let go of self-defeating thoughts and patterns of behavior. Baptiste's clear instructions on creating a calm emotional space, coupled with easy-to-follow guidance through each posture, what it should look like and feel like, made it simple to integrate it into a daily routine. But rather than feeling like a mundane task to be endured, the postures began to feel like a small ritualistic treat, one that you would definitely miss if you didn't complete it each day. Thank you for sharing such a tremendous gift of peace in such a tumultuous world!

Baron did a workshop in London last year which I nervously attended thinking it would be too challenging even though I have been a teacher for 12 years. It was the most inspirational class I have every been to. I felt rinsed out, fibrant and glowing.Reading and studying his book since has been like nectar to the mind and soul.I went on cruise in Feb and although loved some of the other teachers Baron's approach for me personally feels right, complete and transmits all the beauty and power of yogato help enhance our live. Thank you Baron.I hope you will return to Triyoga (please?)and I am hoping meanwhile to be in Miami in November.

I recently met Baron at the Yoga Journal conference in Lake Geneva. I was in his last session and due to a shoulder injury that occured that day, I could not participate in his class. He did, however, make quite an impression me. I am making it a personal goal to take part in a teacher training of his, or a personal retreat. I was in awe of his arua, and the presence he held in that room full of people. He is an amazing teacher.

I have just started reading your book just this past saturday 6/7/03. I've had it for a while. It's funny, GOD works in misterious ways, I've been praying for a way to get closer to him, but I can never sit still or keep my mind clear long enough to listen. When I started reading your book it feels as though you are talking to me. I have been looking into doing yoga for a long time, and just have not been able to catch on to it. Your book really make things clear, and I can't wait to start doing the movements. I'm about have way through the book.

We are still walking with lifted spirits from the Baron Baptiste weekend at Omega in May. We just keep traveling to the web site and "dreaming" about a time when we can steal a week from our husbands & children and go to a boot camp. Some day soon.....we hope!! May 2003 Personal Revolution weekend at Omega -- Wow! What an amazing experience. Having entered into the weekend filled with anxiety and expectations (I only began my practice of Yoga in February of this year) I emerged stronger than I have been in all my life -- physically, mentally and emotionally. Thank you, Baron for waking 'me up inside'. I look forward to more classes, retreats and perhaps a boot camp in the future. I have just returned from the the three day self discovery weekend with Baron and his crew. What a journey! I have "come undone" and for the first time I realize the difference between being keenly alive and just living. The experience of hearing/feeling twohundred souls breath in harmony is something that has left me changed. I went to the workshop (at Omega) with very little expectation, and came away with so much: new energy, new friends, and a sence that it is ok to just be....just be...the rest will take care of itself. Thank you guys. See you in NYC. Jodi Vinch

Hello to All Omega Alumni! Back in NYC where I'm pleased to report that the process of re-tox has been admirably modest (...but not perfect). I keep having happy flashbacks of everyone singing and sweating and smiling. It was, as promised, powerful, and I could stand another dose already. I loved being part of this and meeting so many open and warm people. Thank you especially to Baron for creating an atmosphere that allowed everybody to feel safe-therefore-trusting/relaxed, which in my opinion is the triumph of wisdom over ego: bravo.

I attended Baron's workshop this past weekend at Omega, all I can say is I feel incredibly free. I didn't realize I could gain such insight, not only physically but mentally. I really can say that Baron instilled in me a "thought pattern" that requires no thinking just being. Wow! I feel so present when I practice yoga, it really keeps me in the moment. I've only been practicing a little over a year, but wow have I learned so much about myself. I hope someone will open a Yoga studio in Long Island that has been trained by Baron exclusively. If you have even thought about attending one of Barons workshops, dont think about it. Do it! I thank you, Baron for you're words. I will carry them with me always. I attended the recent "Yoga Cruise" in February. I took Baron's classes and thouroughly enjoyed this style of Yoga. As a beginner, I am trying to find the right style that suits me. The cruise helped me figure that out since I was exposed to several different teachers/instruction/styles.I have to say Baron's class on the morning we sailed into Jamaica was awesome! How wonderful to be doing Yoga on the 11th deck, in warm calm weather while sailing into Jamaica which was beautiful!!!!Thank you to the assistants that were alot of help during the classes!I read Baron's book last year and I was truely inspired.....it helped me seek more out of my life by changing my diet, taking up Yoga and trying to think differently. My life is alot less stressful because I handle things differently. I feel more centered....Thank you for your inspiration and help to'make positive changes in people's lives!

Hi guys & Baron! I have writen before around Oct of 2002, about how I thought this yoga program would change my life & I am back to say that it has been one of the most amazing changes in my life. For recovering from cardiac surgery I have come a long way with yoga & my healed heart! I want to thank you Baron again for being such an inspiration & to help me understand that it is not by ambition that we are a driven, but by our soul force!!! I hope that whoever has taken the first step by reading your book will follow it into a life of growing!Thank you Baron Baptiste...

I have been attending BPYI for a year now and I loooove it! Nothing else makes my body feel this good! Even after one of those days when the alarm doesn't go off, traffic is horrible, and work was difficult; no matter how hard it was to get to class I am always better when I walked out.

I admire Baron's pragmatic approach. He is a master at fine-tuning alignment without coming accross as a "fitness instructor." He preserves the more esoteric features of yoga while staying firmly grounded in reality. Thank you, Baron, for sharing your gift.

Baron,Went on the recent YOGA cruise . . . Wife and I are new to YOGA. Great experience!Took one awesome class with Barons' instruction. I'm experienced weight-lifter, new to this - it really set my fire . . . Barons physique (by body building standards) is compelling - I need a change or gentle shift in exercise practice(s).Upon returning we picked up a copy of "The book". I am reading from cover to cover . . . this is rare. Very good material. I do very technical training and instruction for (15 years) Canon and really like the "way" this broad message is communicated. A must read!I am excited about my potential for transformation.Thank You - Thank You!

My friend Shania and I had a very unique fitness experience @ The Baptiste Studio. We left the yoga class in a completely refreshed state. Unfortunately my yoga mat surrendered to the sweat level. Great time 4 THUMBS up.

I have just received "Journey into Power", and it is such an interesting book that I can hardly leave it- I am tempted to read it until the early hours in the morning. As a newcomer to yoga, I am so grateful that I have found the courage to start something new. Yoga has helped me to mend a broken heart too- I have faithfully attended classes and done my homework- and it has helped me to forget the sadness and tears. Thank you Baron and all my teachers, you have saved my life.

To Baron and all of the wonderful people at the Cambridge Studio.....I practiced at the Cambridge Studio for about a year before moving to Illinois. Yoga has changed my life! I have not been able to find a studio here in Illinois that can even compare! Practicing there is one of the things that I miss most about home......Leanne Beaudoin

I have most of your videos and have been practicing for about a year and a half. I'm in better shape than I've been in 20 years of exercising. Who knew what a difference stretching boundaries could make. I guess all I need now is to fully apply that to the rest of my life. I look forward to attending one of your retreats or bootcamps in the future. Thanks for everything.

Namaste- can one say anything more. Once I found your style of yoga, there was no turning back. It leads you to your kindred spirit, and if you don't have one, keep looking, Yoga will lead you to it! life will be so much brighter and complete.

Have you ever had one of those days where the stress can't get any higher, you can't manage a smile? I had one of those days, it was a build-up of weeks, I had never been so depressed before, and no one knew. Right before I was meeting a friend for your class, I eruped with such distraught aggrivation triggered by an everyday mishap. That was it for me, I could have just given up. I knew I had to meet my friend so I figured I'd pretend I was happy, to not let on to my depressed mood. Can I tell you, no exaggeration when I let your class, I don't think I had ever felt that relaxed, and good in my own skin. I am only sharing this with you because of the extreme impact this has had on my life, Its one of those answers to life hardest questions...Will I ever be happy? Thank you Alyssa, I can never express to you how greatful I am for that day!
Thankful

My former yoga instructer reccommended your power yoga tapes. I absolutely love them. I have gone through times when I left my yoga practice because I was "too busy," but I'm always pulled back to the energy and healing your classes provide. I'm committed to a regular practice now and I feel more centered and more at peace. Thank you!

I purchased the book, "Journey Into Power" a week ago. The book is wonderful. I have studied yoga 27 of my 44 years. I have practiced Ashtanga Yoga, Iyengar, Hatha, Flow and many forms of yoga. By many standards, I am a master. I have also taught yoga for many years. This book is having a powerful effect on my life. Although I've been a vegan for 27 years, a raw foodist, a fruitarian and many things in between, I have struggled with this part of my life. Your book reminds me that what I eat highly influences my presence on my mat. Your book is helping me heal myself. Fully, this time. Thank you for such a powerful book! - Adia Varn

My husband, almost 66, and I, 56, are reading the book and are about ready to begin practicing this great health form. We've both lost weight over the winter and wish to remain as healthy as possible for as many years as possible. I have practiced some yoga before and believe in the benefits of exercise. I am rather short, so some of the poses have posed a problem for me, but I am bound and determined to do this and if I can, my husband will be following me right along with it and I have no doubt that he too will succeed. Thank you Baron for writing your book and for just being. Sharon L. Veenhuis

Last night fate knocked on my door. I was at work, which is at a restaurant, and a guest and I began a conversation. We got talking about yoga and the chakra's. He gave me this web address.I have spent the last 45 minutes browsing. During that time, honestly, tears filled up in my eyes. You see I just graduated from college and, personally I do not want to go into Corporate America because I am aware that my third chakra will be in danager because I will not be honoring myself in that kind of atmosphere. As I was browsing this website I felt lighter, my breath softend as I read on.When I read the section on people's experience at the bootcamp tears filled up in my eyes because I know now that this is the road for me to go down.I am thankful for the Divine Intervention of fate.

One of the instructors recommended Baron Baptiste's tapes and book if I really wanted to move ahead in my practice. I bought the book today and can't put it down! I'm anxiously waiting for my videos to arrive. Thanks for all of your help! Sincerely, Jim
