How does Baptiste Power Vinyasa
Yoga differ from other forms of yoga? Baptiste
Power Vinyasa Yoga offers a different kind of yoga practice. It's
based on intuition rather than tradition. If you think you need to go to
a health club to be fit and beautiful, think again. If you think that
you need to escape to a cave in the Himalayas to find the enlightenment
that yoga promises, think again. Baptiste Vinyasa Yoga offers
more than the familiar poses and breathing techniques; it offers a way
to face life with a renewed personal strength. Top I am a
raw beginner. Where should I start? Congratulate yourself!
You are at the beginning of a wonderful journey that will provide you
with much enjoyment. At our Cambridge & Brookline studios, we welcome
beginners -- our classes are open to all levels. We encourage beginners
to pace themselves in class, and, for best results, to complete 10
classes in 3 weeks. This creates a solid physical base and an
intellectual understanding in which to continue your journey into power!
In increments, you'll build strength, focus, stamina and
flexibility. In addition to our all-levels classes, we also offer
Power Yoga Basics classes. These classes have the same standard flow as
our all-levels classes but give particular emphasis to the foundational
postures, deepening the student's knowledge of alignment, physical
condition, and spirit. Please check the studio schedule for days and
times. Our website provides a great deal of information about
the studios and what to expect at your first class. As with
anything new, be compassionate with yourself and remember that you don't have to get everything right away.. Practicing yoga is a lifelong endeavor and
the basics you learn will be crucial as you build a strong practice.

Will class be challenging for
me? Yes. But you can chart a course of your own by
determining the intensity with which you work in each pose and
throughout the process. Your first few classes may be difficult. You
might feel dizzy or even nauseous, but those symptoms will soon pass and
you will witness the emergence of a new strength and power. Baptiste
Vinyasa Yoga presents you with a healthy, challenging workout that
will make you strong and stress-free. Top How
often should I practice? Successful yoga practice requires
discipline and wisdom. Consistency is the key to success. For
life-changing results practice 4-6 days per week. A practice of 2-3 days
per week, if consistent, will create transformation over time. Develop
the spirit of repetition and everydayness in your practice! Top What
if I'm not that flexible? We encourage you to develop a
flexible mind. You don't need to be physically flexible. All you need is
to focus on letting go, sweating, breathing, moving, and respecting your
limitations. A yoga pose will expose blocks and imbalances. Soon the
tension will release and your range of motion will naturally increase.
As you dissolve brittleness and blockage, your body will regain a more
child-like suppleness. Remember that the main goal of Baptiste
Vinyasa Yoga is to build and maintain physical and spiritual
vitality, not to wrap your legs behind your head (although that may
occur). Top Can you suggest something to keep me motivated for a
home based practice? As with any independent practice, variety can help to keep the
practitioner engaged in the process. We offer a variety of products to provide you with many different options so that you can maintain
your energy and enthusiasm for your yoga practice. We offer a
variety of videos, DVDs, books and audio CDs so you can create a home library that suits your needs. Lastly, our trainings and bootcamps are a great way to re-energize your body & mind both on and off your mat. For all products, please visit our web store. Top Is
Baptiste Power Yoga safe for pregnant women? As with any
exercise program, the two general rules of thumb are to check with your
physician and to listen to your own body and heed any warning signs that
you are in a danger zone either for injury, overheating or overwork.
Having said that, Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga can be practiced by
anyone, as long as modifications are done to accommodate for any
individual's issues. Also, if you had a strong practice before you
became pregnant, it does help. It's usually not a good idea to start a
yoga practice as a beginner when you're pregnant. Also, there are some
poses such as inversions and lying on the belly that are truly
contraindicated for pregnancy. Also, as we practice in a heated room,
again, it is best to discuss with your physician your interest in
starting or continuing your yoga practice when you are pregnant.
Top How should I choose the best Baptiste bootcamp or
teaching training for me? The first thing to determine is
the goal of your trip. Although we tell all our students to drop their
expectations before they start their trip, it's helpful to have a
general sense of what you wish to accomplish. Do you want to learn the
basics of Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga in order to teach this style of
yoga? Do you want to pursue certification with us? Do you teach another
style of yoga and have been interested in learning our style? Have you
been practicing yoga for some time and are looking for a way to
rejuvenate your practice? These are all the sorts of questions that you
might consider when looking at the "get-away" options we offer.
On our program schedule page you will see
the many options we offer. This page of the site lists all our scheduled
events, including book signings, Personal Revolution weekends as well as
Teacher Trainings and bootcamps. In general, if you are a teacher now,
or are interested in learning how to teach Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga,
our Level 1 Teacher Training is an ideal place to start. It will provide
you with a week-long experience meant to give you the basic tools
necessary to teach Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga. It's also the first
requirement in becoming certified, so once you have successfully
completed Level 1, you're well on your way to becoming a certified
teacher! Once you've completed Level 1, you're eligible to apply for
Level 2 teacher training, which is geared towards teachers who have
taught Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga for at least one year and are looking
to expand their teaching experience and training. Once you successfully
complete Level 2, you are able to really move forward with fulfilling
all the other requirements for certification. Top If you are looking for a retreat
focused on practicing yoga, eating healthy food and spending time with
many healthy, wonderful people, one of our general bootcamps might be
just the thing. Held in one of many beautiful locations, such as the
Yucatan , Costa Rica and Hawaii, these week-long bootcamps (vs. Teacher
trainings) are a way for participants to deepen their yoga practice, or
learn the basics of Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga, while "unplugging" from
their sometimes stressful routine or home life. Even if you're a
beginner, it can be a great way to start a practice. As with all
our bootcamps and teacher trainings, all interested individuals must
apply. Baron Baptiste reviews every application to ensure that the
program meets the individual's specific needs and that the group blends
well together. You will work with our Program Coordinator both during
the application process and after your acceptance, so that all your
questions regarding payment, lodging, flight accommodations and travel
details among other things are taken care of. We want you to be able to
go and enjoy yourself so we work hard to ensure that everything is set
up for your success. As with all our programs, they sell out
quickly, so if you see something that interests you, apply quickly and
we will contact you once we have reviewed your application. If you have
any questions, you can call us at 1-800-936-YOGA or email Programs@baronbaptiste.com.
Top How do I become a certified Baptiste Power Yoga
teacher? Well, first of all, thank you for your interest in
becoming certified! The best place to start is to visit our web page for
Certified and Associate teachers. Read the
information that details the requirements for certification. Once you've
read the information, if you have any questions, please contact us at
800-936-YOGA or send email to certification@
baronbaptiste.com. The first step in becoming a certified
Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga teacher is to successfully complete our
Level 1 Teacher Training Bootcamp. If you are interested in becoming a
certified Baptiste teacher, our recommendation is that you sign up for
the next Level 1 Bootcamp right away. Top
I'm interested in becoming an
affiliate studio. What do I need to do? Thanks for your
interest in joining the Baptiste family of affiliate studios! In order
to become affiliated, we ask that you be actively working on becoming a
Certified Baptiste Power Vinyasa yoga teacher. We ask that our affiliate
studios have a Certified teacher working or running the studio.
Requests for affiliation are reviewed by Baron Baptiste and all
requests are coordinated by BPYI. Information about
your studio, the type of yoga practiced and the studio's history are
reviewed by Joslyn and prepared for Baron's review. We ask that all our
affiliates offer Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga as the primary style of
yoga. We will visit your location and evaluate the location for
compliance with our standards. Once all of the information is compiled
and reviewed by Baron, we will give you our decision on affiliation.
Affiliate studios appear on our website under the link to "Affiliate studios" and we routinely refer
interested parties to our affiliated partner studios. Affiliates also
receive discounts on products in exchange for offering many of our
products to their student community. If you wish to pursue
affiliate status and meet the minimum requirements above, please send
email to affiliate@baronbaptiste.com. Top How can I find Baptiste Power Yoga teachers/classes
near me? We have a listing on our site
for "Certified and Associate Teachers." This
link provides a listing of teachers who have completed and received
Baptiste Certification and are now certified teachers. Associate
teachers are those who have submitted their information for
certification to us for review or who have completed their Level 2
Teacher training and are eligible to submit their certification
information to us. After 6 months, these Associate teachers are removed
from the list if they have not completed the certification process. This
listing of Certified and Associate teachers is the primary listing to
which we refer callers when they have questions about finding a Baptiste
teacher, though it does not include all teachers who have trained with us. Only those who have registered with us as a Certified or Associate teacher are listed on the site. Top
