Sarah Wilkes
Sarah started practicing yoga in 2000 to help relieve stress and to compliment her running. Sarah practiced Hatha yoga while living in Little Rock, Arkansas, but it wasn't until she attended Midwest Power Yoga in February 2004 that she realized the true benefits of yoga. Sarah was immediately hooked on the Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga taught at MPY. Sarah felt a change in her body, heart, and mind. She felt muscles she didn't even know she had, but more importantly, she took her lessons from the mat into her everyday life. Sarah learned to let things go that are out of her control and be present with every aspect of her life. She also learned to take some chances and push herself to where she's never gone before.
Sarah completed her CYT and CTA training at Midwest Power Yoga School in December 2005 with the support from her husband Todd and her family. She started teaching right after graduating. She met Baron Baptiste while working at the Yoga Journal Conference, January 2006 in San Francisco. Sarah was able to complete Baron's workshops during the conference and had such an awesome experience, she couldn't wait to go Baptiste Teacher Training Bootcamp Level 1. After completing Baptiste Teacher Training Bootcamp Level 1 and Level 2, Sarah felt changes on and off the mat. Sarah felt more body awareness and became more present into everything in her life, including changing things in her career that are not working and being grateful for the things that are working. These shifts were life changing and Sarah uses these experiences to teach yoga from her heart and truly be present as a teacher, student, and friend.
Sarah spends time just hanging out with her husband Todd, parents, sisters, and brother. Sarah still works for "Corporate America", teaches yoga, and is launching a vintage, eco-friendly pillow business (even though she wouldn't consider the latter two "work".)
