Stephanie Culen

Stephanie has been practicing yoga and movement for nearly 20 years and has been teaching yoga since 2000. Stephanie discovered yoga through fitness and dance. She is dedicated to the transformative effects, both physically and emotionally, of all movement disciplines, most notably yoga, but also including sports, dance and other therapeutic modalities. Stephanie continues to share her discoveries and understanding of the yoga practice and philosophy from this kind of psycho-somatic-emotive foundation.

Stephanie teaches Power Flow Yoga classes in New York City and has been part of the yoga teaching staff at Equinox Fitness Clubs since 2001. Her inspirational and therapeutic teaching style offers an empowering mixture of fun, sweat and heart. Stephanie encourages students to access awareness and gratitude from the Higher Self (also known as God, Spirit, Universal Wisdom), bringing consciousness to the somatic experience through asana and meditative practices, ultimately transforming mind and body from the inside out. Stephanie teaches from the heart and believes in living an authentic, joyful and passionate life through a process of presence, self-study, discipline and ultimate surrender to God.

Stephanie is founder of Boomerang Yoga "Yoga for a Cause", a soon-to-be non-profit organization that creates yoga events for people of all levels of participation to benefit and support non-profit organizations and philanthropic projects that advocate children's issues.

Stephanie has been featured in several lifestyle and fitness magazines including Self, New York Magazine, Women's Health, and Quest; as well as Baron Baptiste's video "The Trainer's Edge". She is recognized as a premier yoga instructor and was voted best yoga teacher two consecutive years by New York Magazine. In October 2006, Stephanie was selected by New York Moves magazine as one of New York City's "Power Women on the Rise for 2006", identifying her, along with a small selection of other women, as someone who has changed or improved the lives of other women in the city. In 2007 Stephanie was selected by Self to be the spokesperson for the Ultimate De-Stress with Yoga DVD, one part of the magazines Fitness Series for 2007. Stephanie works as an athletic advisor for print campaigns, including Nikes 2007 Womens Spring Campaign and Womens Health editorials, serves as an inspirational leader to Clarins skin-care and cosmetic professionals for their Monthly Challenge meetings, and is the Group Fitness Manager at one of Equinoxs flagship location in New York City.

Stephanie has a Masters of Science in Education from Sarah Lawrence College and continues to be a life-long student of love and humanity.
