Denise K Bonnaig
Denise K. Bonnaig, Esq. is a true karma yogini, and like many karma yogis, wears multiple hats. She's a wife. She's a mom to three boys.
She's a litigator and Type T personality, who, (until she discovered yoga) would run five miles in the morning, before starting her
work-day, litigating employment discrimination, civil rights, and immigration law cases.
Denise's foray into yoga in 2003, turned into her passion and love for the practice. From then on, there was no turning back. Since
that time, she's experienced life transformation after life transformation, and spurs her students to do the same. She deepened her
commitment and passion by becoming a Certified Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga teacher. She seeks more awareness in her practice by signing
up for boot camps which have become truly priceless opportunities to perceive the truth about her authentic self, and build her inner strength.
Denise is happy to be a living example of the fact that one can maintain a sculpted body and cardiovascular health by practicing power
vinyasa yoga alone - without damaging one's knees by running.
Since yoga has transformed her life, Denise sees herself as a medium through which yoga can transform her students' lives. She is known
for pushing limits in her students while offering modifications. Her students must be prepared to sweat and transcend their limitations.
To keep up her twin passions of litigation and yoga, she teaches the 5:30 a.m. - 7:00 a.m. class on Wednesdays; the 9 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. class
on Saturdays, and the 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. classes on Mondays, all at PCYH. Her enthusiasm for the practice attracts many feet to her classes
(especially Type T and Type A personalities) even though she teaches as early as 5:30 a.m.!
Denise's enthusiasm for the practice of yoga, was ignited by the wisdom of Baron Baptiste. She swells with pride when acknowledging the gifts
imparted to her by Baron, and that she trained under his leadership. As she conveyed to Baron:
Thanks to your extraordinary gifts that you share wholeheartedly,
I feel renewed, rejuvenated, and empowered to live my life authentically.
My practice has been effortless and a sense of balance never experienced before is pervading all aspects of my life. ÊLike Mahatma Gandhi,
the only tyrant I accept in my life is the still voice within.
Students tell Denise that she changed their lives, and one couple told her that they are not moving out of town unless they can take Denise
with them! This is because no two classes Denise teaches are alike. She makes sure that she incorporates philosophy, art, music, myth,
and literature into every class, to touch and inspire every aspect of a personÕs life. Here are some reflections on Denise's teaching,
from one her students:
"I want to tell you how happy I was to attend my first Yoga class with you last Monday! I enjoyed and appreciated it very much. It was not
just a yoga movement class, but also a very inspirational and empowering journey. I like it. You're a great instructor Denise!
"Your class taught me to look inside of myself, to appreciate and accept who I am as an individual and strive for improvement at my own pace.
It was very encouraging to know that everything will be fine if I let go and keep the faith. However, I have to tell you that your class was
super tough and intense. My sweat was running down like rainfall and I was burning inside but my mind was still pushing my body to follow
your instruction. At one point I thought I was going to die with this intensity.
"As I was driving home that evening, my thought was running high and I realized that I was strolled at some points with the yoga movements
and it was not just the physical movement that I was struggling with but also the mental exhaustion. I have to admit that I walked into your
class with pain on my right side of my lower back, and lots of grief and pain inside of me. While doing the yoga, it helps me to release my
stress and tension. You taught me to see and accept who I am and how precious my life is and I have all the rights as everyone else. It was
a self awakening, encouraging and empowering journey for me. Thank you!
"Believe or not, even with your intense class that I thought I will die it actually helped take care of my right side lower back pain. I am
feeling so much better now. Thank you!"
The most recurring theme in Denise's life, and yoga practice is GRATITUDE. It's the first element her students must learn to cultivate
before commencing their journey of empowerment with her.
Try her classes, you'll be glad you did!
