Baron, i have only dicovered the art of Yoga in the last six months and since then my life has changed for the better significantly. I recently attended the Yoga expo in Sydney where i discovered your book, "Journey Into Power". I have not even finished the book yet and i have felt the magic already. Even your book is part of my journey. It has taught me to doubt my doubts and have a positive outlook towards everything in life, even people who might resent me. i find it hard to get angry anymore, and when i do, i get over it very quickly. Depression and anxiety issues that i used to carry are being left behind further and further everyday. I am still struggling, but i know my challenge is part of my journey and that there is light ahead of me!!! My thanks goes to you. Ben.

Dear Baron the 5 day teacher training in Austin Tx. was indeed transformative! I have come back home to Boulder Colorado sharing with every one that the main thing I got was, "We are more POWERFUL than we know." I saw that your Power Yoga is about aligning oneself rightly with one's true nature; when this happens, magic and personal power and true beauty are revealed. I am left with my own self love and compassion for all. Thank you for your work and for sharing yourself so humbly, generously, and fully. With great respect and love...Audrey Levine

This book has helped me more than I can put into words. I have always been a very reactive person, especially with my husband and kids. Since starting your power yoga I am been able to keep that sense of calm within myself that I've always wanted to have. Because of expense I do my yoga at home with a mat and your dvd's. Every day the kids go down for a nap I roll out my mat and practice. My husband has noticed such changes in me, both physically and mentally and our relationship has improved greatly. After reading your book I have been sharing some of my thoughts and feelings with other family members and have started showing them the basics of doing Power Yoga. This has inspired me to work towards getting my teaching certificate. If there is anyone that knows of a certification in Illinois that has a great reputation I would love to hear about it.

Namaste! I just returned from Baron's Workshop in Chicago, it was awesome. Baron inspires you to step out of your comfort zone and assist you to levels you never thought you would be. Believe me it is easy to move out of your comfort zone in Baron's class, but learning to simple let go is where all the fun is. If only we could get him and is wonderful assistants to the Midwest more often we would all be better off. Thank you for a great weekend!

I was a student of Physical Fitness in Boston, I worked in different fitness centers and sports clubs in Boston, a year ago i was living in Cambridge, 2 minutes walking from the Porter Square B.B. Studio, even though I was taking for free Power Yoga classes at the places I was working I decided one day to take a class at the B.B. Studio. It has changed my life and my approach of fitness to my clients. The Book JOURNEY INTO POWER has been really my BIBLE. Back in Greece now I really miss the class I have the book and some DVDs. I would like one day to be able to take or give personally a class of Baron Baptiste Power Vinyasa, Hot Yoga in Greece or Europe. For those that haven't take the class just try it once and the results will be more than visible.

Before moving to Nashville for my graduate studies, I attended the Baptiste Cambridge studio regularly. I volunteered at the studio and took classes 3-5 times a week. Doing Baptiste yoga has truly changed my life. I've found Baptiste Power Yoga to be inspirational, challenging, invigorating, soothing and spiritual. I had come to depend on my regular classes at the studio. However, now that I am in Nashville, I am having trouble finding an equivallent form of yoga. If anyone has any suggestions, please post to me or to the list. I would appreciate any guidance you may have to offer. Namaste.

Hi Baron, I bought your book and attend classes at your Boston studio upon recommendation of an instructor that I started my journey into yoga with. His name is Brandon Campagnone, he has attended your classes and trainings, you may or may not know him. Anyway, I can't express enough how much the book and the classes have changed my life! "Journey Into Power" has been my bible throughout this process of self-discovery and transformation for me. I can't thank you enough. I also bought Rolf's book whom I have met at the Boston studio. He has also been a great inspiration to me and his "Meditations from the Mat" has been thought provoking.I am interested an thirsty for more knowledge. Can you recommend anything to help me on this journey (book, classes, workshop)? My deepest regards, George Dossas

I started doing power vinyasa yoga after buying the book in January. I had started a very basic yoga in July 2002 and had found it exhilarating and challenging. I loved it! I have to explain that I have always been a 'big' girl and had just hit my highest ever weight in 2002. My family and friends are all tiny little people and I obviously found it difficult to be 'bigger' than eveyone else and found it even harder to lose weight. I think I had started to, if not lose weight, then develop my fitness levels and flexibility. The most important thing was that yoga seemed to be making me happier than I'd ever been. SO I bought the journey into power book and started reading it on a train journey home. I found myself in tears reading about other people describing how I was feeling. EVerything I'd ever been upset about, everything I'd stressed about was being explained to me and it felt like a huge weight off my shoulders, and this before I'd even tried out any of the yoga! I used to practice yoga every day of the week and have the weekend off. I found my body was changing every minute and I could suddenly wear clothes wouldn't have dreamt off. I'd lost four stone and am managing to maintain a healthy weight even though my yoga practices are not as often as they used to be as I've recently been completing my degree and revision and exams took up my practice time. I am a completely different person. I am stronger mentally and physically and I can do the crow - which again made me cry when I finally achieved it - I had bruises all over from trying that pose and not making it! Thankyou for helping me so much, people are astounded when they see me now and I've never been to a single yoga class! I did it myself with your tutoring and can't believe the results. I've tried all my life to lok like I do now and its taken me about seven months. Thankyou! I just wish I'd found yoga earlier!

Just wanted to say how much Baron's book has helped me take my yoga practice to the next level. I've been practicing for over 6 years and have a daily practice. While I surely achieved wonderful benefits previously from my practice, the information and inspiration from Baron's Book has really helped me transcend my previous practice. The cleansing diet in particular has had a huge impact on me both in terms of my overall feeling of well being (which has enabled me to practice with more intensity) as well as breaking thru a weight plateau I had hit. I also found his video "Transform Your Life" which was originally on PBS to be very inspiring as well. Seeing those folks go thru the bootcamp which follows the same principles as "Journey Into Power" and being able to watch it regularly has been a great tool. (and of course all the other videos of Baron's that I practice with). Thanks Baron for this wonderful gift you've given me and everyone else. Namaste

I understand that Baron's Yoga is called Vinyasa yoga. But isn't that term a catch-all for many different styles of yoga that combine a series of flowing postures with rhythmic breathing for an intense body-mind workout? I mean, what is the basis fo his particular yoga? Is it primarily Ashtanga or is Power Yoga, or Jivamukti? Can somone help answer this for me? Thanks! and Namaste!

I attended Baron's full day intensive at the Yoga Journal Conference in Lake Geneva. WOW! What a day. It was everything I was expecting (hoping) and more. I was truly touched by Baron's humility when another student asked him to demo some of the more "difficult" poses--of course he kindly refused, saying "I used to do that, but it's not really about that..." So touching and inspiring, because we all know some others that would have glady shown off! It was a great day and start to the conference. Thanks Baron.

Dear Baron, Being a bit of a lover of bookshops and the "wellbeing" industry, I saw your book on the bookshelf quite a while before I bought it. It was funny 'cause I thought, no, I dont need another yoga book but yours just kept staring out at me from the shelf, and four months later I succumbed and bought it. Absolutely no regrets - love the presentation and way the book is set out - I find it easy to work from whilst doing my practice. Thankyou for such an inspiring book. Where I am living now, there's nothing in the way of yoga classes, so its all self motivation, and its your book I keep coming back to. One day, I may even get over to the States and attend one of your workshops or bootcamps! Thanks again, Carolyn.

Dear Friends, I would like to share and hear from people with similar experiences and of how they had a breakthrough in this part of their lives. I used to be a Yoga teacher and dancer at a time when very few people practiced. I regard myself as a pioneer in the field. Due to financial circumstances I had to move on to another way of earning a living but have found it very hard and quite a struggle (bad bosses, bad environment, extremely negative people) and I must say that I was not all that well excepted regardless of how much I tried to be cooperative or mind my own business. I feel like I am not accomplishing my mission but heh! one has to live. I am hoping that by changing my Yoga practice, I am now practicing Vinyasa that things will change. If you would like to share your breakthrough with, it would be greatly appreciated. Have a nice day!

I'm curious about designing a workout from J into P that will give diversity on a time budget. I get up at 5:15, carve out 45 minutes for yoga and then have a full schedule usually til 8 or 9 at night, so I cannot indulge in a full hour and a half at this time. What I'd like is to be able to sample from the different series rather than having to do only a couple and do them all the way through. Is there a method for this? Maybe I should be rotating through different selected series on different days? I could not gather what Baron's recommendation would be on this subject. Great stuff! NH

Hi Baron, Progressing with my yoga nicely, and actually get it done within 90 minutes. My posture has improved and it's amazing how quick your body tones up, I walk around feeling calm & serene it's fantastic! I wanted to write and ask you, my sister has a neck problem called spasmodic torticollis (her neck thinks it's normal to now sit to the right), I was wondering if she tried power yoga that her neck could possibly realign itself? Nothing seems to help her, she does have an exercise program from the U.S. but no results as yet. In response to anyone going through the workout transition to yoga, Baron's yoga is it. Strength, flexibility, incredible toning. You don't need to do anything else (unless you want to). When I first started I still lifted weights, I thought I would get soft, but it's just the contrary. I've never been so toned or slim not to mention my body is re-aligning itself into what God intended. Just finished the book. Thanks so much, Baron, what a life changer. It was so affirming to see in print many of the thoughts I’ve had in my head for so long. I can't wait for the NYC Personal Retreat and the Utah bootcamp.

Intrigued by an article in Mens Journal, I have been interested in Vinyasa Yoga for some time. Having transitioned from a hedonistic child of the big eighties and mid nineties, destiny has led me to dozens of 5ks, 10ks, a few biathlons and a couple of triathlons over time. Four Marathons later I dedcided to seek a new path with less pounding albeit, my love of the great outdoors for running remains very strong. Along comes the recognition that serenity of mind, body and soul can be found in a myriad of fashions. Baron's Workout Book, Journey Into Power is a masterful compilation of 80 plus poses for the enhanced novice or seasoned warrior of the mat. Complimented with a modified Iron pumping program, Vinyasa does it all in the quiet of your den, deck or private studio. The need for pumping iron is questionable when practicing Vinyasa technique. Baron espouses abstinance from dumbells as such. Personal preferance on my part incorporates the best of Babtiste, some Pump and Running, not necessarily in that order. Meditation is the compliment of the comprehensive workout. The lessons on meditation and Yoga Breathing are two key elements of this book that by themselves, transform the new traveler into this discipline. Strength comes from strengthening, proper breathing and peace of mind. Journey Into Power takes you where few Fitnesse Masters have ever gone, until now. Pilates is emerging in the upper Midwest, Vinyasa is Universal. Peace Out, Remain Strong, Be Well and Eat lots of Garlic, you may live a thousand years. Regards into the Third Milennium. Baron, Just bought your book yesterday. Am half way through reading it. Lord only knows how I'm going to get into some of those positions but I'm going to try. I am a 43 year old physical wreck who used to be in great shape -- 30 miles a day on my bicycle in the mountains of western PA. Then came two back operations and more recently (May) a mild heart attack. Not so great genetics they tell me but I'm sure my life style as of late had something to do with it. At any rate, I'm not ready to give up yet and was looking for something. What I have read so far has already inspired me and I can't wait to get started but I must admit, I am a little overwhelmed by the volume of poses. It seems like it will take quite some time before I will know them well enough to move fluidly in progression. I guess thats that kind of impatience that leads to heart attacks. So -- I will finish reading the book, get started with your program and see what happens. Thanks for the inspiration. Joel

Hello, I am very new to yoga and have recently purchased "Journey into Power". I am excited about getting started. However, i have a genetic neuromuscular disorder called CMT, a disease which affects the peroneal nerve to the lower legs and feet, causing the muscles in the feet, ankle, and calve to atrophy and become unable to regenerate. This severly limits my ability to achieve any balance in a standing pose. High top sneakers tightly laced and bent knees help, but i still wobble to and fro in even the most basic of standing poses. I am concerned that my frustration will get the best of me if i try and work through the poses anyhow, but i will never be able to achieve even the standing balance of a normal person that does not do yoga. Im wondering if i would gain most benfit by altering the program to fit my needs somehow. Does anyone have any experience working with disabled persons? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dave.

Hi Baron, I just want to say thankyou so much for your wonderful book. I started doing yoga a couple of months ago, then got hold of your book. I've only had it a few days and can't stop reading it, you really reached me. I feel huge benefits from the yoga already, it takes me a bit longer than 90 minutes at the moment but I'm sure I'll be down to 90 minutes in no time. I look forward to getting up and doing it. Emotions I've held in (I've pretty much felt nothing for two years) are already coming out and I try to do as you say and just breathe, don't react. It's so good to just feel something again. I'm really excited about the future for a change. Thank you so much!!! I hope you can write another book in the future, can't wait! Melissaxxx

Hi Baron I have just compeleted your Journey into Power and, the inspiration that I feel has already started me on my journey. A wonderful book, and understanding it comes with ease. I started 2 weeks ago with yoga and already feel a change. I am 51 and some of the poses are difficult at the moment but I will persist until I achieve each one. Thank you again. Ellen Taylor

I have a couple of quick questions. First, I have a student who is getting awful foot cramps during his yoga practice. They are particularly debilitating in child's pose and pigeon. Basically any pose where there is plantar flexion, or a pointed type of toe. I really don't know how to help him. Everything seems to make it worse. Does anyone have any suggestions? And secondly, I have a student who is currently 3 weeks pregnant. How should I advise her on what not to do? I think she shouldn't lay on her belly, but what about twists and jumps. I just don't want her to jeapordize her pregnancy in any way. Thanks! Happy holidays and namaste!

I've been doing Power Yoga for a few years following some very gentle yoga for those with limitations. I have fibromyalgia. But due to Power Yoga I've been able to gain strength, flexibility and energy and feel better in general. I really appreciate Bryon's videos. I like the fact too that he has some shorter ones. They fit my schedule and are just the amount of time I want to put into my practice.

I first heard of Baron when I was flipping through the Yoga Journal and saw an ad for his work. I had been practicing yoga for several years, trying different methods...but had never found a program that was invigorating enough for me. I had been looking for something to make me sweat! I bought one of his tapes, Power Yoga for Beginners, and it was the answer I had been looking for. Still, I had been praying he would come out with a book; sometimes I need to practice without any noise or visual stimulation. My prayers have been answered! As soon as I opened his book and found his method would encourage me to use my intuiton but still guide me, I knew I had found what I have been searching for all this time. Thank you!!

I looked at many, many yoga books at multiple bookstores and even bought a few. However, when I picked Baron's book and flipped through it, I felt for the first time that a book was really speaking to me. Now that I regularly have fun with the yoga workout, I see that it not only matches the other chapters, but is essential to making all of it come together. The workout really does foster inner peace and strength. The photos and descriptions of the asanas are without equal. The detail given to the asanas--the setup, alignment gaze, modifcations, spiritual focus--are better than those found in any other book. I am filled with joy when thinking about all I have now, and all I have to look forward to as I continue with the asanas and develop with them. The chapter on diet rings true with all of the beliefs I have developed in recent years. And the meditation, despite being so simple, has actually already begun to have a positive impact on my life. And to top it all off, the book as been beautifully layed out and produced. I sutained a knee injury in a bike accident two and half years ago. After struggling with the limitations, I had surgery a year and a half ago. Unfortunately, scar tissue formation still prevents me from doing what I used to: long rides, long hikes, occasional basketball. At my last vist to my surgeon, I was told that I should wait it out. At first this was really disappointing--how much longer could I feel trapped inside my body. However, I subsequently found yoga, and it has provided me a physical outlet that amazingly is not aggravating my knee, and has provided me with the inner strength to mentally and physically overcome, and accept, the discomfort that it causes when it acts up. Baron, thanks for putting in the time and effort to make this book. Take it from me, it was worth it.

I read the entire book on Journey To Power and I thought it was an empowering and encouraging book. I checked out the web site when I finish the book I think it was in June and to my disappointment to see that the bootcamp in Costa Rica was sold out. I ordered and received the Core Power 30 minute-video and experienced the most amazing and powerful 30 minute with Baron Baptiste. After I fnish reading the Journey To Power I was so excited about going to the Bootcamp and now after this Core Power video I am even more excited and look forward to the next Bootcamp available. I know this month is the Costa Rica Bootcamp and how I wish I was going. I wait anxiously to participate in the next Bootcamp and also wait patiently for the next Bootcamp offering. Peace and Love. Hello everyone. In this email I will quit whining about my busy schedule. I am slowly incorporating yoga into my life. This is my question: What are the best poses for strengthening my back? I bought "Journey Into Power" last week. This was after seeing Baron on Channel 2 (PBS) at one of his retreats in Boston. It has been a fantasy of mine to be 'locked' away with someone that could whip me into shape! But I don't have that kind of money, so I am hoping for this book to guide me. I have NEVER done yoga in my life. And to be quite frank, I have never been able to stick to anything that would give me the health and body I have been so desperate to achieve. Baron in a way makes it sound easy, definately attainable, but after reading up to page 78, I still feel the desperation that has overwhelmed me for the past 25 years. I work like most people, from 8am to 5pm. I come home to an ADHD 6 year old and my 71 year old mom who is tired also. This isn't very condusive to striking a pose in yoga. Please, I'm not trying to be disrespectful, I am absolutely convinced that Yoga and it's gentle stretching is a wonderful way to get into shape. But when? When do people find the time? The strength? The energy? I feel beat, defeated, exhausted, frustrated, and terrified in the realization that I will never get into shape. I am 48 years old. Five foot four and a whopping 182.5 lbs. I never, never in my wildest dreams thought I would be in this shape. And to make matters worse, I have been in a most demanding job that has destroyed my back, neck, legs and arms. I suffer with pain all the time. I'm very sorry about this absurdly, depressing mailing. But I am all of this and more. I am desperate for help. I am looking for a miracle. An answer, a word or 100 words of advise that I haven't heard before. Anyone, everyone, feel free to email me. Thanks, The End

Hi. Just wanted to say that i really enjoyed the book. I have all of your videos ane enjoy them too. One comment i would very much like to make is that i hope you will one day bring out more yoga videos that have less talking. No offense but yoga should be a time for letting the mind rest, and with all the talking (and if you are using videos - its the same time after time) it can get boring. Just a thought. Wayne.

I am interested in this book, but i am very concerned about comments made within, having read a few pages in the shop, regarding breathing. in it the author states that deep breathing, specifically into the belly/abdomen, is not good for you. i believe he said that one loses power this way. i hope i have this accurate. this goes against everything i have ever read (which is a fair amount) on this subject, be it from other yoga teachers, meditation, even taoism. i am therefore skeptical; can anyone explain this to me. thanks martin

I purchased "Journey Into Power" after seeing it in Borders. I was excited about the program before reading, but after reading, I harbored many doubts and hesitations. My girlfriend even bought me another book on Yoga. I went out and got a mat, but still the doubt persisted. I decided to re-read "Journey Into Power" and just try the poses. I got into Downward Facing Dog more easily than I thought I could. Now that's probably very elementary to those of you who have been doing Yoga for a long time, but that was significant for me. I've been trying to lose weight for a long time and this, at first, was the latest in a long line of schemes, tricks, gimmicks, etc. Anyway, I'm off and running, but I'm having a problem. I have a big stomach, I'm rather short (5'8'') and I'm having problems doing Ragdoll and Uttanasana. Can anybody offer me any tips or help getting into this pose? Baron, thanks for writing an inspirational book. After having started Yoga in earnest, I must say that my whole way of thinking and even relating to people is changing. I find that I have energy during the day all day and whereas I used to hide parts of myself from people, I'm becoming more open and grounded in my own strength. That's something I was never taught growing up. Thanks for these lessons now. They're quite timely. - Chris

I just read your book "Journey into Power" and I was so impressed with your approach. I want to thank you very much for your advise about not getting caught up in the "teacher training" aspects of yoga. I have been teaching yoga now for about 1 year and my back ground is fitness. I have been worried about not going throught a yoga training class. I am very cautions with all of me moves and I watch very closely what my students are doing. I never push anybody further then they feel they can go, of course until they have been with me for some time and I have had a chance to see what they can do. I would really love to join one of your bootcamps or teachers training sessions but they are too far for me, is there any way you would be teaching up in the midwest, closer to Minnesota? I don't believe there is any scientific validity to the idea that inverted poses are dangerous or ill-advised during menstruation, and I have read this also. I think it's right up there with the idea that the glance of a menstruating woman can curdle milk. :-) In other words, it's just another old myth about menstruation.

Monika, In my opinion, I don't think you should do the fruit fast, since it's not recommended in someone with Type I diabetes. As a Registered Dietitian (R.D.) I have worked with people with diabetes for years, and always counsel them on the importance of balancing carbohydrates (including fruits) with proteins and fats to better regulate blood sugars. The fact that your doctor is advising 45 gms of carbohydrate (CHO) (the equivalent of 3 servings of fruit) may suggest your diabetes is not well controlled. I highly recommend you see a Registered Dietitian (RD) to become more familiar with the optimal diet for controlling your diabetes. Best of luck. Take care. Margaret Furtado, MS,RD,LDN, Boston, MA

Sorry Trinity but my fingers slipped and my message disappeared when trying to make a correction. What I was trying to say is don't try to walk in someone elses foot steps. Your own spirit will guide you when it is time and it will happen naturally. I find that meditation is the bridge that carries me into the realm of truth that brings more meaning to my postures and what goes into my body. Listen to your spirit and do what it says. It will all fall into place. I have no doubt that there will be a point in time that I will quit smoking. In the meantime everything else that I do that is good for my body will be that...good for me.

I've been "into" yoga off and on for a while, but never really stuck with it. I actually bought Baron's book - and what I saw was intriguing as I flipped through. I have to say that I'm harboring some feelings of doubt that I can actually do the poses, but we'll see. My real question is on the diets in the back, though. I'd like to do the 3-day fruit fast, and then go into the 7-day detoxification. However, I'm a Type 1 diabetic (dependent on insulin to survive). Does anyone have any thoughts on what this would do to my system? My doc's trying to get me to follow a low carb diet (45g carbs per meal, and 15g for snacks, which is practically nothing since I love bread, crackers, etc.) - but there are carbs in everything - even fruit. In fact a small banana is loaded with carbohydrates. HELP!

Greetings, I have a question regarding the cleansing diet in Baron's book (love the book, by the way), but first I would like to explain what is leading up to my question...I began yoga in January this year, a few weeks after I had quit smoking and have continued the yoga ever since. However, quitting smoking only lasted about 3 months, and I have been quitting off and on since March. My doctor tried putting me on Zyban, but alas, I couldn't stand the dry mouth it gave me, and just wanted to quit without drugs, and have been quitting off and on both with the nicotine patch and just plain old cold turkey. As I said, it has been off and on. I want to really quit cold turkey this time, so I can more quickly flush the toxins from my system, which leads me to my question about the cleansing diet...I am gearing up again to quit because I keep thinking of how good I felt when I didn't smoke. So I'm wondering...would it be too harsh to try the cleansing diet the day I quit smoking, if I don't use a nicotine patch? Or should I wait? I understand it takes about 3 weeks to have the nicotine completely out of your system (although only 2 to 3 days to be over the withdrawal). If I do use a nicotine patch to quit, is it pointless to do the cleansing diet until I am off the patch? I want to feel fresh and alive again, without cigarettes, but am afraid I have to work through impatience :-)

To the Staff: Sorry for that "test" I just sent. Usually after typing a whole letter, these Internet e-mail boxes don't work for me. But yours really does! Thank you. Dear Master Baptiste: This note is not for you to answer; just some praise. Having watched and admired Rodney Yee on "Oprah", it opened the door of interest for me in yoga, though I am not athletic nor graceful in movement. But the other week I happened to see your book (and name--sorry, for my ignorance) for the first time, in a Borders Books store. I never buy hardcover 'cause I can't afford it. However, this time I felt almost compelled to--as if something were telling me that I needed this book in my life NOW. So I did. It sat for a week or so at home. Then yesterday I opened it. "I've got to start somewhere", I told myself, "Even if I just do the FIRST thing in it and that's all, I'll do that today. I gotta DO something." So I skipped the first several intro pages (though even glimpses--as I had at the bookshop--seemed inspiring) and found the Pillars page on breathing. I have to tell you that just that first step taken--that first breath, literally--left me feeling "Wow...that's a change!" Something so simple, yet it made me feel like a new beginning had begun. And after reading more of what you said about this ujjayi breathing, I almost shed a tear, if but for a moment. It moved me. THANK YOU for being real! Yoga is yoga, in a way, I guess...but your approach connected to me. Thank you for coming through these pages as if you were really alongside us. Your spirit and presence really shine through. Not all books have that. Thanks for being true, and just being you--for being who you are. We can sense it. That's the only way to make a difference in our or anyone else's life. May all Good be with you and those you love. Don't serve us TOO much; take care of youself as well. Namaste and aloha, Ron Gima

Sharon, I think I might have a suggestion. I would study both of the sun salutes first until you have them memorized since no matter how you modify the practice, you warm up with the sun salutes. Once you have these down, you can start each practice with your sun salutes and focus on only one series at a time. Also it might help to write down the poses. I find that just seeing the names of the asanas reminds me of what Baron has written about them. I sort of created my own practice guide this way. I keep it by my mat along with the book just in case I don't remember. But I am also on my third reading of that particular section and I'm sure I'll be reading it over and over. Hope this helps you. Take care. Maria

I purchased Journey Into Power. Read it once. Went right back and read it again. It all speaks to me however I would like to pose a question. The practice according to the timing indicated takes 1.5 hours which is ok with me but learning each position takes time. How do you go about taking it from the top to the bottom when you have to take the time to study the book to make sure you are doing the asana properly. It would take a lot more time during the learning time. Does anyone have any suggestions? Do you just start and practice for the allotted time you have even if you only get to the 7th or 8th asana? I also have had surgery on my wrist for a ligament that was totally torn into during a fall. It has been reconstructed but the range of motion will be limited until such time it learns how to flex properly. Has anyone else worked through this kind of obstacle and how did it go?

Baron, I went to your Portland, OR workshop. I loved it so much. Unfortunately, at the time, I couldn't afford to get your book. Well, I bought it yesterday and so much of what you have said makes so much sense to me. Lastnight, I had such a profound experience. I was reminded of a conversation that I had with my partner over two years ago. As I remembered the conversation, I realized I was still harboring these really insecure feelings from it. Feelings I had never shared with him. Instead of just trying to stuff those feelings, I just laid there and let myself feel them. I paid close attention to my body as I did so. I could feel my breathing starting to skip, my shoulders starting to tense, my arms going numb, my stomach queasy. I wanted so badly to just get up and brush the feelings away. Instead I just allowed the feelings to wash over me and for the first time I really experienced them. I laid like that for quite awhile. Later my partner asked if I was okay because he could just see that I was experiencing something but could not tell what it was. I shared how I was feeling with him and what I was trying to do. He's not into yoga yet but he has seen the changes in me since I took it up and is intrigued. Later, I started to ask myself all kinds of questions. I applied your fifth principle for stepping up to the edge which says I have to feel in order to heal and a principle taught in Conversations With God about getting to the root of how I feel and deciding whether it was a feeling based on fear or love. I realized that I was feeling weak, afraid and that I have a tendency to hide from how I feel and from other people. As I laid there, breathing through the discomfort, these thoughts came to me from somewhere deep inside. It was like I was talking to myself. "When you feel weak, go back to your yoga practice for strength and balance. When you feel afraid, acknowledge your attachments and learn to let go. When you want to hide, realize that when you want to go inside because of fear that is a red flag. Remember it's okay to go inward but not to flee." As these thoughts came to me, I began to feel better. No. That's not quite right. I began to feel okay about how I was feeling and just had faith that I could transcend it. Thank you so much. I don't know when I will be able to study with you again but for now I have your book. I will save up the money to come to your bootcamp somehow. Peace and love, Maria Thomas kaiyoga@yahoo.com

Someone please help! I recently purchased Baron's Journey Into Power and I love it! But because of the way I learn, I think a video would truly benefit my practices. With all of the videos that Baron has to offer, I don't know which ones would correspond to the practices I learned in his new book. Can anyone fill me in? Thank you!

Looking back to when I first began class I heard Baron say "touch your nipple to your thigh, go ahead...touch it, touchy, you'll like it"...and I thought to myself "what is he talking about ???". After over a year of classes here I realize that I may never know but I love the yoga none the less...it has transformed my life!
