Patty is the Founder/Director of Down Dog Yoga Studios. She’s convinced that she did not find yoga – yoga found her! An avid marathon runner and biker, Patty suddenly found herself indefinitely stalled with a knee injury that would require surgery and perhaps months of rehabilitation.
Upon the urging of doctors and friends, -she took her very first yoga class. Her teacher was none other than Baron Baptiste himself! Patty was instantly hooked on Baron’s powerful flow and his inspirational teaching. She has been in ongoing training with him ever since and is a certified Baptiste teacher.
Patty has studied with many great master teachers, but to this day she considers Baron Baptiste to be the teacher that has had the greatest impact in her teaching and life.
These days, she can be found leading the masses of yoga warriors that flow through Down Dog Yoga, at the studios she founded and operates in DC, Maryland and Virginia. Each year Patty is inspired and energized by the thousands of yoga students that she and her team have introduced to the energetic and dynamic practice that found her nearly a decade ago. It is not unusual to see her students lined up to secure a spot in her packed classes. Patty and her studios have been featured in the Washington Post, Washingtonian Magazine, Washington Life, the Atlantic Monthly and several other publications and radio shows. Down Dog has become known for its celebrity sightings, and Patty has become popular for her private yoga classes among Hollywood celebs when in town.
Off her mat, Patty dedicates much of her free time ensuring the welfare and care of abused and abandoned animals. Patty and the Down Dog Yoga community regularly sponsor pets in need, finding them the loving homes they deserve.
Patty resides in Georgetown, DC with her husband, Scott, and their small animal kingdom that includes her two cats, Lucas and Lulu, and two dogs, Coco and Elijah.
